Molded Graphite

Engineered Strength for Demanding Thermal Environments

Our molded graphite products combine high strength with exceptional machinability, maintaining uniform properties from part to part. Produced in both round and block form, these materials perform reliably under high heat and mechanical stress, making them ideal for challenging thermal applications.

Key Advantages:

  • Fine- to medium-grain structure for precision forming
  • High compressive and flexural strength
  • Excellent oxidation and wear resistance
  • Available diameters up to 72 inches

Iso-Molded Graphite

Precision-Molded Graphite for the Most Demanding Applications

Produced through isostatic molding, our iso-molded graphite grades achieve exceptional density, strength, and uniformity. Their uniform fine-grain structure enables close-tolerance machining, smooth surface finishes, and consistent thermal performance in high-temperature, high-precision environments.

Key Advantages:

  • Fine grain structure (5–15 µm) for precision machining
  • High density (1.78–1.92 g/cc) and mechanical strength
  • Excellent thermal shock and oxidation resistance
  • Exceptional performance in high-temperature and corrosive environments
  • Purified grades are available to meet your requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between isostatic, extruded, and molded graphite?
These are three of the most commonly used methods for forming graphite feeder shapes. The appropriate method depends on the final application, desired grain size, and feeder shape. Iso-molded graphite typically has the finest grain size and highest strength. It is formed under equal pressure from all directions, resulting in relatively uniform properties throughout the material. Extruded graphite generally has a larger grain size and is formed by pushing the material through a die, creating grain orientation in the direction of extrusion. Molded graphite can be produced in a range of grain sizes and is formed in shaped molds using pressure from one or two directions, resulting in grain orientation perpendicular to the applied pressure.
Yes. Ei6 supplies purified graphite grades with less than 5 ppm total impurities for applications requiring high-purity material.
Ei6 supplies graphite in blocks, rods, and plates, as well as finished machined components manufactured to customer specifications.
The right graphite grade depends on the application, including operating temperature, atmosphere, mechanical load, and electrical or thermal requirements. Ei6 can recommend a grade based on your specific requirements.
Ei6 serves customers throughout the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, with localized support available in Spanish and Portuguese.
